The SmartTub™ System
This high-tech Jacuzzi® system uses technology to enhance your hot tub experience. Run from an app on your smartphone, the SmartTub™ System takes spa ownership to a whole new level, making it easier to enjoy and maintain your hot tub than ever before.
A simple tap on your smartphone’s screen connects your SmartTub™ System within seconds. It offers tips and provides how-to videos on the maintenance and care of your hot tub. It also provides energy usage estimates and power outage notifications as well as enabling you to update settings, such as energy efficiency and temperature. It will send an alert to you and your dealer when there’s a problem, allowing you to ‘Click for Service’ when you want a professional to assess the situation.
How it Works
The Jacuzzi® SmartTub™ System is powered by machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, taking advantage of the fact that hot tubs are located outdoors and can connect directly to nearby cell towers.
Using low bandwidth 3G technology, M2M communication uses data packets smaller than a text message to remotely control and monitor spas connected to the system. This conservative use of data keeps the system very affordable and it’s not linked to your personal cellular plan. Instead, it’s billed to you yearly directly through the app beginning in year two. The first year is included in the purchase price of your tub.
Wi-Fi
The outdoor location of most hot tubs usually means they are a significant distance from your router. The walls of your home can often interfere with Wi-Fi signals, but there are a variety of products available to help extend the signal. These products require setup, the ability to network with your existing home router, and some home networking knowledge. You will need to link the device to your home network, a fairly simple process. Router compatibility is key as are technical compatibility considerations such as network ID and password requirements.
